Equity Statement
The Lamoille North Supervisory Union (District) is committed to the success of every student, regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, family economics, class, geography, ability, language, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity or initial proficiencies. The LNSU/LNMUUSD School Board (Board) holds itself and all District and school-site decision-makers, faculty, and support staff accountable for building a District-wide commitment to equity. The District will incorporate principles of equity within all policies, programs, operations, practices, and resource allocations.
We believe that equity is the foundation of our Vision and Mission. Educational equity means that every child will receive what they need to fully develop their academic potential and become engaged learners and valued members of our communities and our society. The equity this District will be grounded in will embrace and emphasize diversity and inclusion and will respect the dignity and worth of each individual. All children will be given the equal opportunity to thrive every single day without barriers.
We will provide high-quality learning opportunities and programs that will build on each child’s unique individual and family strengths, cultural background, language(s) abilities and experiences. We will eliminate differences in educational outcomes as a result of who children are, where they reside and what resources their families have. We will make sure our children feel they have a true sense of belonging. When they are in our space they will be free from having other individuals decide who they are or are not, and what they like or dislike (stereotyped), they will feel they have a voice in their community and society, are free from racism, free from racial slurs that are meant to dehumanized and cause mental and emotional harm, gender discrimination, religious discrimination (such as antisemitism), discrimination against individuals with disabilities (ableism), we will respect their choice of gender expression, and above all, we will make sure our children are physically and psychologically safe, and feel valued because when they do, it is then when they feel that they can truly reach their full potential.
