Dear Lamoille North Families and Staff:
In the face of the recent flooding and ongoing weather and safety concerns that are affecting our treasured towns, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks and support to all members of our community and beyond. Many areas in our beautiful state were adversely impacted. Over the past five days, we have been able to see the aftermath of the flooding and know that many of our families have experienced the devastating loss of their homes and basic necessities. While driving and walking through our towns, especially Cambridge and Johnson, and talking to families and sitting with some while waiting to hear about the availability of shelter or nutrition, it seems so important to acknowledge the weight of the hardships people are facing and to meet that acknowledgement with empathy, compassion and action.
In times of crisis, the true strength of a community is revealed by the care and unity displayed by its people. We are profoundly grateful and proud to acknowledge the countless individuals and organizations that have rallied together to extend their helping hands over the past week. These selfless efforts have been instrumental in providing aid, comfort and hope to those in need.
We encourage you to visit our website at by clicking HERE and our Facebook page to see the latest information we have about resources for food, shelter and basic necessities. It has been updated daily since the flooding. I am also including a link to a flyer, created by our Communications Director, Rene Thibault, that we have made available to individuals we have visited who live in our towns but do not have any access to social media. Please see the flyer HERE. Please also note that resources that have been set up in Cambridge and Johnson are available to any member of any town.
Through our collective actions, we show the true spirit of Vermont and the power of standing together. As we continue to navigate this period, we will continue to be united as we rebuild and restore our community.
Thank you for your contributions, and for reminding us all of the remarkable strength that can be found in the human spirit when we come together.
Please feel free to reach out at any time to our disaster relief contact for all of the schools in the district, Rene Thibault, Director of Communications, at 802-851-1588, or rthibault@lnsd.org.
In closing, I continue to be so grateful for our Lamoille North community members and the strong relationships we have built together. Thank you again for your compassion and dedication to the wellbeing of all of our community members.
With great affection,
Catherine Gallagher, M.Ed.
