Hi Lancers and Lancer Families!
The LUHS School Counselors are hosting two upcoming evening events for 11th and 12th-grade students and their families. They will be centered around the college application process -- from the college search, through the nuts and bolts of the application, to the financial aid process and making final decisions.
Our goal in hosting these events is to provide more information, support, and opportunity for connection around the important topic of future planning. ALL students and families, grades 9-12, are invited to these events to hear the information that will be presented. However, the information presented will be geared primarily toward 11th- and 12th-grade students and their families. Please read below for the descriptions of each event. College Search & Application Process
When: Thursday, Oct. 9th from 5:00pm to 7:00pm
Who: Primarily 11th graders & families; open to all
Where: LUHS Library
What: This event will cover everything that 11th grade students should be doing this year to prepare for college applications in 12th grade. It will also look ahead to the fall of 12th grade, and go over the timeline for applications and how counselors support the entire process. For 11th graders, it is a look ahead at the next 12-14 months. For 12th-grade families, it may still contain valuable information about the application process.

FAFSA & Financial Aid Process
When: Wednesday, Oct. 15th from 5:30pm to 7:00pm
Who: Primarily 12th graders & families; open to all
Where: LUHS Library
What: This event will focus on Financial Aid systems and processes, specifically the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) that all families of college-bound students must fill out. Counselors will be supported by our VSAC rep, Katie Gesser, to help families understand the FAFSA and actually begin/complete the form. While this is primarily geared toward 12th graders & families currently in the application process, it is open to anyone who would like to know more about what to expect in the future.
