Kimberly Johnson-Lesny Chosen As Next Cambridge Elementary School Principal

Lamoille North Supervisory Union and the Cambridge Elementary School Board are pleased to announce that Kimberly Johnson-Lesny has been selected as the next Principal of Cambridge Elementary School.

Following a comprehensive search, a pool of candidates participated in a multi-step interview process led by a diverse hiring committee. Three finalists were invited to Cambridge Elementary School for a full day of visits, where they experienced the school’s programs and connected with students and staff. The process also included a community meet-and-greet, providing families and community members the opportunity to engage with each finalist, ask questions, and share valuable feedback with district leadership and the Cambridge School Board. This thoughtful and inclusive process ultimately led to the selection of Kimberly Johnson-Lesny.

Kimberly is a relationship-driven educator who believes that strong connections and a deep sense of belonging are at the heart of every successful school. She brings more than a decade of experience from the Mount Mansfield Unified Union School District, where she has served as a special educator, alternative classroom teacher, and Special Services Coordinator. In her current role, she partners closely with students, staff, and families in Jericho and Underhill to support all learners.

Her work is grounded in a commitment to literacy, social-emotional learning, and building systems that ensure every student can thrive. Kimberly believes that when students experience joy, connection, and belonging in their classrooms, meaningful and lasting learning follows. She is eager to partner with the Cambridge Elementary School community to build on its many strengths and continue fostering a supportive, inclusive, and engaging environment for all students.

Kimberly lives in Essex with her husband and is the proud parent of two children currently in college. She enjoys staying active with her two dogs and cat, and in her free time can often be found walking, snowshoeing, gardening, or reading.

As we welcome Kimberly to Cambridge Elementary School, we also extend our deepest gratitude to Principal Mary Anderson for her leadership and dedication to the school community. Under Mary’s guidance, Cambridge Elementary School has flourished as a place where students feel supported, challenged, and inspired. Her recognition as the 2024–2025 Vermont Elementary Principal of the Year is a testament to her impact—not only within the school, but across the state.

We look forward to this next chapter for Cambridge Elementary School and are excited to welcome Kimberly Johnson-Lesny into the community. Johnson-Lesny will assume her duties this summer and officially begin her tenure as Principal with the 2026-2027 school year.
